Hearing that\u00a0\u00a0Duane Swierczynski<\/strong><\/a> is writing an new series<\/strong>\u00a0called Ex-Con<\/strong> for Dynamite<\/a> Crime<\/strong>\u00a0had me smiling enough to star in one of those<\/strong><\/a> many “happier than<\/a>“<\/strong> Geico commercials<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I’ve been a Duane Swierczynski fan<\/strong><\/a> since I first read The Wheelman<\/strong><\/span><\/a> almost seven years ago. \u00a0Since then I’ve read and enjoyed every one of\u00a0Swierczynski’s\u00a0crime novels<\/strong>. \u00a0Ex-Con<\/strong><\/span> sounds like a winner. \u00a0Here’s how Swierczynski<\/strong> describes it…<\/p>\n

As the name implies, we\u2019re going to be following a jailbird freshly sprung from San Quentin after five brutal years… This is a high-level con artist who thought he could out-think the cops, his marks, his competitors \u2014 pretty much everybody \u2014 and five years later, he\u2019s still reeling.\u00a0 To stay alive inside, he had to promise a favor to a convict who\u2019s pretty much a living nightmare in a cage, and now that our man is out, he dreads having to pay up…<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

With Swierczynski<\/strong> writing and Tim Bradstreet<\/strong> providing the covers, the only thing left to take this series to the top is the right interior artist. \u00a0Unfortunately, one hasn’t been chosen yet.<\/p>\n

Two artists that came to mind for something like this are Phil Hester<\/strong><\/a> and Cully Hamner<\/strong><\/a>. \u00a0I have no idea if Hester<\/strong> or Hamner<\/strong>\u00a0would be\u00a0considered or if they would want to do the series, but from this fan’s perspective, they were the first two artists that I thought of.<\/p>\n
