{"id":875,"date":"2004-01-02T00:59:00","date_gmt":"2004-01-02T04:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=875"},"modified":"2021-03-06T12:28:36","modified_gmt":"2021-03-06T16:28:36","slug":"must-see-movies-2004","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=875","title":{"rendered":"Must-See Movies 2004"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>As the first day of <b>2004<\/b> winds down I find myself looking at what new movies the year will bring.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><b>January<\/b> has three potentially fun movies <em><b style=\"color: #cc0000;\">Torque<\/b>, <b>Mindhunters<\/b> and <b>The Butterfly Effect<\/b><\/em>. None of these are on my &#8220;must-see&#8221; list, but all look like an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\">In <b>February<\/b> there&#8217;s only two movies that may draw me out, and they are<em><b> Kill Bill Vol. 2<\/b><\/em> and <em><b>The Passion of Christ<\/b>.<\/em> It&#8217;s pretty strange that these would open in the same month and that they&#8217;d both make my list, since they&#8217;re on opposite ends of the spectrum. I&#8217;m really hoping for great things for <b>Mel Gibson<\/b> and <b>The Passion<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><b><em>Dawn of the Dead<\/em><\/b>, and <em><b>The Ladykillers<\/b><\/em> will fight it out in <b>March<\/b>. My nod, at this point is to see the zombies first.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><em><b>S<\/b><b>hade<\/b> <\/em>is set to open sometime in the <b>Spring<\/b> and you just know I&#8217;ll be there on opening day! The buzz has been very positive on this one, so I hope that its given an opportunity to live up to the hype.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><em><b>Hellboy <\/b><\/em>premieres the first week of <b>April<\/b> and I plan to see it that weekend. Another movie based on a comic, <em><b>The Punisher<\/b><\/em>, opens later that month, but the buzz on it isn&#8217;t nearly as good&#8230; still one can hope. <em><b>The Alamo<\/b><\/em> might be a winner&#8230; at least it has a better chance than the real folks who fought there. The movie to beat in<b> April<\/b>, at least at this point, is probably <em><b>Man on Fire<\/b><\/em>. The buzz on this one is, pardon the expression, hot.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: right;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/010104troy.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 120px;\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/010104troy.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><b>May <\/b>gets us ready for the big summer films, so it&#8217;s approrpriate that both <em><b>Van H<\/b><b>elsing<\/b><\/em> and <em><b>Troy<\/b> <\/em>open. Both of these could be huge. As could <b><em>The Day After Tomorrow<\/em>. <\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><b>June <\/b>has just one must-see movie for me and that is <em><b>The Riddick Chronicles<\/b><\/em>. Oh, how I hope this lives up to <em><b>Pitch Black<\/b><\/em>!<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><b>July<\/b> has the fireworks and <em><b>Spider-Man Two<\/b><\/em> [which by all accounts is even much better than the first!],<em><b> I, Robot<\/b>, <b>The Bourne Supremacy<\/b><\/em>, and<em><b> The Village<\/b><\/em>.<em> <b>Spider-Man 2 <\/b><\/em>should bust all kinds of box office records.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: right;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/010104avp.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 150px;\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/010104avp.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><b>August <\/b>has the title match of the century [at least until <b><em>Rocky<\/em> <\/b>returns to the ring] with <em><b>Aliens vs Predator<\/b>. <b>Blade: Trinity <\/b><\/em>opens and I&#8217;m hoping for it to be more like <em><b>Blade 2<\/b><\/em> than <em><b>Blade<\/b><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\">There&#8217;s no definite release date yet for <em><b>Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow<\/b><\/em>, but I can tell you that I plan to see it the opening weekend whenever it premieres.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\">Things really slow down in <b>September<\/b> &#8212; there&#8217;s nothing at this point on my list!<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><b>October <\/b>is only a little better with <b>Michael Mann <\/b>and<b> Tom Cruise<\/b> teaming up for<b> Collateral.<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\">Things pick up again with two movies in <b>November<\/b>. <b>Oliver Stone <\/b>directs <b>Colin Farrell<\/b> in <b><em>Alexander<\/em>. Brad Bird&#8217;s <em>The Incredibles <\/em><\/b>also premieres.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><b>Decemb<\/b><b>er<\/b> finds <em><b>Oceans Twelve<\/b>, <b>The Aviator<\/b><\/em>, and <em><b>Meet the Fockers <\/b><\/em>all competing for our viewing dollars.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\">With all of these movies coming out&#8230; I&#8217;d better get some rest.
