There’s a little bit of a controversy brewing over Marvel’s reprinting<\/strong> of the Miracleman<\/strong> series originally published by Eclipse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The hubhub is because of the remastered coloring<\/strong> on the latest version. \u00a0It’s not going to look like the original colors when reprinted.<\/p>\n

Most will argue it will look better. \u00a0Traditionalists will argue that it shouldn’t change.<\/p>\n

Marvel’s<\/strong> way of thinking is making the colors look better will increase sales. \u00a0Those who are fans of the original series will probably buy it either way [enhanced coloring or not], but new readers may be put off by the original colors and pass. \u00a0So the thought process becomes do what will increase sales<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I probably first became aware of this mindset when Ted Turner<\/strong> started colorizing old films that held the rights to. \u00a0Turner<\/strong> did this to increase ratings when he aired the colorized movies and to increase video sales.<\/p>\n

George Lucas<\/strong> made changes to his Star Wars<\/strong> films enhancing special effects and\u00a0making it clear that Han<\/strong> didn’t shoot first.<\/p>\n

Enhancing effects on the original Star Trek<\/strong> tv series was also done to help the show remain popular in syndication.<\/p>\n

I’ve always figured as long as the originals are still available in their original form, then what’s the harm of an “enhanced” version?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
