{"id":9708,"date":"2014-03-04T06:29:08","date_gmt":"2014-03-04T10:29:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=9708"},"modified":"2014-03-02T12:54:11","modified_gmt":"2014-03-02T16:54:11","slug":"star-wars-burger-chef-mike-kott-and-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=9708","title":{"rendered":"Star Wars, Burger Chef, Mike Kott and Me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><\/strong><strong><\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2014\/z030414burgerchef_starwars.png\" width=\"500\" height=\"669\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recently while cruising alone the virtual highway known as the internet I came across these three <em><strong>Star Wars<\/strong><\/em> posters. \u00a0They were available in the early <strong>1980&#8217;s<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a0<strong>Burger Chef<\/strong> when you purchased one of their meals. \u00a0I know this not because I read it in the poster descriptions but because I worked at <strong>Burger Chef<\/strong> in that same time period.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While the posters were popular, when the promotion ended we were left with several boxes of unsold posters. \u00a0My boss was at a loss. \u00a0He couldn&#8217;t send them back. \u00a0He didn&#8217;t want to throw them away. \u00a0He sure wasn&#8217;t going to give them away.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I had a friend named <strong>Mike Kott<\/strong>. \u00a0<strong>Mike<\/strong> and I played poker on a regular basis and shared a mutual interest in <strong>comic books, comic art, movies<\/strong> and the like. \u00a0<strong>Mike<\/strong> ran (and still runs <a href=\"http:\/\/www.intergalactictrading.com\/home.cfm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Intergalactic Trading Company<\/strong><\/a>). \u00a0I knew<strong> Mike<\/strong> would buy the posters if he could make a profit on them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So I told my boss that I knew a guy who&#8217;d buy the posters if the price was right. \u00a0My boss figured that if he sold them at cost he&#8217;d be ahead of the game. \u00a0He told me the amount which was pennies per poster.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I contacted <strong>Mike<\/strong> and the deal was done. \u00a0My boss was happy and <strong>Mike<\/strong> was thrilled. \u00a0He even tossed me <strong>$100<\/strong> for making the deal!
