\"\"<\/a>Comic books<\/b> are one of the few truly <\/span>American<\/b> art forms. So it’s strange that most <\/span>American<\/b> kids go through a<\/span> comic book<\/b> phase, but as they get older turn their back on the art form. I guess it’s because of the perception that comics are just for kids.<\/span><\/div>\n

Sure, it’s true that many comic books<\/b> are geared to kids. It’s just as true that there are as many types of comics<\/b> available as there are interests. And comics AREN’T just for kids<\/u>.<\/p>\n

If you liked the Spider-Man<\/b> or X-Men<\/b> movies, then you should check out the Spider-Man<\/b> or X-Men<\/b> comics. Same with Alien<\/b> and Predator<\/b>… or even Alien vs Predator<\/b>. If you’re a fan of hardboiled crime stories then check out Frank Miller’s Sin City<\/a><\/b> and 100 Bullets<\/a><\/b>. If horror movies are your thing then take a chance on The Walking Dead<\/b> or Steve Niles’ 30 Days of Night<\/a><\/b>. You say you loved Gladiator<\/b> and Troy<\/b>? Well, what’d you think of 300<\/a><\/b>?<\/p>\n

Trust me. There are comics<\/b> out there that you’d like. And here’s a cool incentive to get you to take a look. On July 3rd<\/b>, comic book<\/b> companies across the US<\/b> will have comic books<\/b> available for FREE<\/b><\/u>. You read that right, FREE<\/u><\/b>.<\/p>\n

Now not every comic<\/b> will be free and not every comic book shop<\/b> will participate. But I bet that one near you will. This is the third year for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY<\/b> and publishers<\/b> want people to check out their titles, so some really cool books will be available.<\/p>\n
