Schow<\/b><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jacket design and illustration<strong>&nbsp;Tim Bradstreet<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Elias McCabe is having one hell of a night:&nbsp; He gets kidnapped at gunpoint by a professional hit man and is forced to shoot blackmail photos of a prominent politician.&nbsp; Things go wrong with the shoot\u2026 very wrong.&nbsp; When the night is over, Elias is scared to death \u2026 and ten thousand dollars richer.<\/p>\n<p>If he keeps his mouth shut.<\/p>\n<p>But he doesn\u2019t \u2014&nbsp;and now the hit man has targeted him for payback.<\/p>\n<p>As a desperate amateur in the games of death, Elias is up against a seasoned pro.&nbsp; As his entire life slides into the abyss, he has to stay alive by inventing new ways, moment-by-moment, to avoid, misdirect, and finally confront his ever-more-determined murderer as corpses and collateral damage stack up coast-to-coast in their wake.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The&nbsp;Good<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Upgunned<\/span><\/strong> sucks you in from the first sentence and never let&#8217;s up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The lead characters: &nbsp;Initially I was having a tough time deciding whether I was pulling for <strong>Elias<\/strong> [the photographer forced to become an accessory to blackmail and murder] or <strong>Chambers<\/strong> [the hitman &#8220;forced&#8221; to kill everyone involved in the blackmail gone bad including his partners].<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The supporting characters, especially <strong>&#8220;Cap&#8221; Weatherwax<\/strong> and <strong>the freaks<\/strong> at <strong>Salon<\/strong> [midgets, a spidergirl, a crocman, and others.]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Schow<\/strong> does his research &#8212; you&#8217;ll learn a lot about guns, Hollywood movie-making and more, but never at the expense of the action.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Tim Bradstreet&#8217;s<\/strong> jacket design and illustration and yes, that is <strong>Thomas Jane<\/strong> on the cover!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ken Mitchrooney<\/strong> [a comic book buddy from way back] is thanked in the Acknowledgements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The&nbsp;Bad:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Chambers<\/strong> &#8211; I was pulling for the hitman despite him killing so many people until he did something even worse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>What happens to <strong>Chambers<\/strong> that prevents him from killing <strong>Elias<\/strong> straight away.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Ugly:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What happens to Chambers&#8217; partners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Walking in a dark room with your eyes wide open.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00B9ZKFBY?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=B00B9ZKFBY&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=craizabls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>Upgunned<\/b><\/span><\/a>&nbsp;is for <strong>mature audiences<\/strong>&nbsp;due to excessive violence and sexual situations.&nbsp;<b><br \/>\n<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Rating: 3 out of 5<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Upgunned by David J.
