Drew Struzan’s “Billy Jack”

Drew Struzan was the go-to guy for painted movie posters. Sadly painted posters are all too rare these days. This Billy Jack piece gives a hint of Mr. Struzan’s talents.

Even if you’re a huge Vin Diesel fan there’s a good chance that you’ve never seen Multi-Facial the short film that Diesel wrote, directed and starred in back in 1995.
Fear now more.
You can now see Multi-Facial through the embed below. Be advised that it contains some inappropriate language.

Three Stooges completists are excited to finally be able to get a copy of their short Hello Pop!
It was believed that all copies of the film were lost in a fire on the MGM lot in 1967, but a collector turned up a nicely preserved copy in Australia last year.
You can get full details at the NY Post article by Lou Lumenick.

That amazing drawing of Sly as Jack Carter was created by artist extrodinaire, Hoyt Silva. I met Hoyt at Heroes Con and set up the take home commission.
Hoyt, in addition to being an amazing artist, has great communication and packages the art securely. I highly recommend Hoyt to all sketch collectors! – Craig

I thought that since today was Friday we needed a post that would take us into the weekend with a smile.

Perhaps an even bigger version?

I was seven years old when The Monkees tv series premiered on September 12, 1966. I became an instant and life-long Monkees fan. I wasn’t alone.
The Monkees tv series won two Emmys (one for Outstanding Comedy Series – beating The Andy Griffith Show, Bewitched, Get Smart, and Hogan’s Heroes). In 1967, The Monkees had four albums hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (the only group to ever do that) and they outsold the Beatles and the Rolling Stones combined.
Obviously there were (and still are) quite a few Monkees‘ fans out there. If you’re one, you’ll want to check out Eddie Deezen‘s post Hey, Hey, We’re the Monkees at Neatorama.

Fans of horror movies, especially classic horror films will want to check out the interview with Sara Karloff, Boris Karloff’s daughter!

Ed Wood the (in)famous director of Plan 9 From Outer Space is credited with creating some of the worst movies ever. I find his films more watchable than many, but mainly because they’re bad in a fun way.
Did you know that Ed Wood also wrote short stories? Wood did. They mostly appeared in, uh, men’s magazines that last about as long as Wood’s movies did in theaters.
BoingBoing recently posted Ed Wood’s The Day the Mummy Returned. It should give you an idea of Wood’s writing style. As for me, I prefer his movies.
