Alfred Hitchock’s 10 Most Suspenseful Scenes

Alfred Hitchcock was the first director I knew by name.  I loved Hitchcock’s movies and still do.

Probably most of you do as well.  If so, you’ll get a kick out of Alfred Hitchock’s 8 Most Shocking Thrillers from Do You Remember. (Sadly, this link is now dead, so instead I present the 10 Most Suspenseful Alfred Hitchcock Scenes, Ranked. – Craig, 2021)

Mike Torrance, Sly and Dolly!

Mike Torrance aka The Krayola Kidd is back and he’s brought Sly and Dolly Parton from Rhinestone  with him!  This is one of my recent favorites!

Over the coming weeks/months I’ll be posting more of Mike’s sketch card commissions.  My goal is to eventually get a card for every character Sly has played.  We’re well on our way!

You can see more of Mike’s art at his Deviant Art siteMike is available for commissions and his prices are very reasonable.

Hear Harry Houdini Speak!

It’s a pretty safe bet that none of us ever saw Harry Houdini perform his famous Water Torture Cell live.

Now through the er, magic of the internet we can hear a live recording made October 29, 1914 of Harry Houdini offering his famous $1,000 Challenge to anyone who can prove that he could receive air once locked in his Water Torture Cell.

The original recordings are now in the David Copperfield Collection.

Jerry Gaylord Gets Carter or Barney Ross!

Jerry Gaylord aka The Franchize returns with his take on Sly from Get Carter.  Stallone purists may say, wait, he’s got the tats of Barney Ross.  Ok, then for you folks, it’s Barney Ross!

Jerry is one of my favorite sketch artists.  He always gives collectors more than they’re expecting and he is just plain good!

I highly recommend Jerry to all sketch collectors. He quickly responds to e-mails, his turnaround time is fast and he packages the art to ensure it arrives safely.

Almost everyone knows a bit about Ernest Hemingway.  He was a famous writer and one that many consider the greatest writer of all time.  Hemingway fought in the war, loved danger and was a “man’s man”.  He committed suicide.  Pretty much sums Hemingway up, right?

Maybe not.

Listverse presents 10 Incredible Facts About Ernest Hemingway that live up to the title.   For example…

  • Hemingway used to beat up people for James Joyce!
  • Hemingway hunted sharks with machine guns.
  • While a war correspondent, Hemingway went rogue and repeatedly led troops into battle.
  • He got into a fist fight with Orson Welles!
  • Late in life Hemingway believed he was under government surveillance… and he was.
  • Hemingway was a KBG agent!

From Wired: Frank Miller is Back (and Not Sorry)

I’ve been a Frank Miller fan since his days on Daredevil over 30 years ago.  I followed Miller as he created Ronin, Dark Night Returns, Electra, Sin City and more.  In recent years Miller’s output has been sporadic at best.

I was hopeful that with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For  hitting cineplexes around the world that we might see more of Frank Miller’s Sin City yarns.

Since reading Sean Howe’s profile of Miller for Wired: After His Public Downfall, Frank Miller is Back (and Not Sorry), and seeing the accompanying photos [not the one above, it is probably five or six years old] of Frank Miller, I am still hopeful for more comic work from him, but even more importantly I hope that Frank Miller is physically okay.
