John McClane & Jack Bauer – “Die Hard 24/7” (Proposed Film or Fan’s Dream Team-Up?)

I’m not one to usually report rumors from anonymous sources, but this one is too good not to discuss.  Robert Curran at CBR.com wrote an article about a proposed Jack Bauer/John McClane team-up for a feature film that would have been titled Die Hard 24/7.  While the source of this tidbit was indeed anonymous, the story was intriguing enough to initially get space at Ain’t It Cool News and then at CBR.com… and here.

Curran has doubts about the accuracy of the anonymous source because…

If work went into the potential film, it hasn’t leaked to the Internet. After more than a decade, it stands to reason that someone involved in the project would have revealed more details about the movie if they existed.

Yet, Curran also points out that in A Good Day to Die Hard, McClane’s grown son was a CIA agent named  John “Jack” McClane Jr..  Calling John’s son Jack could have been a nod to the proposed team-up with Jack Bauer.  So perhaps there is something there.

Curran concludes and I agree that…

…Unfortunately, a McClane/Bauer team-up is likely to remain in the realm of fan fiction…

Before you click over to read Robert Curran’s Die Hard’s John McClane ALMOST Crossed Over With 24’s Jack Bauer let me end by saying that I agree that the McClane/Bauer crossover is unlikely… but, man, it sure would be cool!

“The Woman in the Window” – The Poster and Trailer are Here!

Here we have the poster and trailer for The Woman in the Window.  I like the poster and the trailer gives it the feel of an updated Rear Window.  If it is half as good as Hitchcock’s film, we’re in for a treat.

Anna Fox (Amy Adams) feels safest when she’s watching the world from behind her window. Until the Russell family moves in across the street, and she witnesses something unimaginable. The question is…what really happened?

“The Sons of Sam” Trailer is Here!

True life murder mystery documentaries are “in” now (have they ever been out?) and The Sons of Sams: A Descent into Darkness could be the next “must-see” one.  I’m old enough to remember when the Son of Sam murders gripped the country and relief when the killer was caught… but did he act alone?

A closed case is only the beginning. The Sons of Sam: A Descent Into Darkness is only on Netflix May 5.

The Son of Sam case grew into a lifelong obsession for journalist Maury Terry, who became convinced that the murders were linked to a satanic cult.

“Deliver Us from Evil” – The Poster and Two Trailers for Korean Action Film!

We have the poster and two trailers for Deliver Us from Evil and I like all three!

The Deliver Us from Evil poster reminds me of something we’d see from John Woo or Robert Rodriguez and that’s a good thing.  We have both the US and International release trailers and they get the job done.  I look forward to getting a chance to see Deliver Us from Evil.

After a little girl is kidnapped, a government-agent-turned-mercenary (Hwang) is forced to re-emerge when he learns the incident is closely connected to him. However, when an infamous gangster (Lee) learns who has entered the country and is finally within his grasp, he goes on a bloody rampage to thwart the ex-agent’s rescue mission.

First, the US trailer…

And now the international trailer…

“The Mosquito Coast” starring Justin Theroux and Melissa George – The Trailer is Here!

I like this trailer for The Mosquito Coast starring Justin Theroux and Melissa George.

The Mosquito Coast is adapted from Paul Theroux’s best-selling novel of the same name and in 1986 had been made into a movie directed by Peter Weir, starring Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren and River Phoenix.  I’ve never read the book or seen the 1986 movie, but I’d be interested in seeing the latest mini-series adaptation.  Check out the trailer below and see if you don’t agree.

A brilliant rebel (Justin Theroux) and his wife (Melissa George) take their family on the run to protect them, but end up exposing them to more danger than ever. At every turn of their adventure, they encounter increasing threats and intensifying moral choices from which there’s no turning back. Watch April 30 exclusively on Apple TV+ https://apple.co/_MosquitoCoast

Adapted from the best-selling novel by Paul Theroux, Mosquito Coast is executive produced by Neil Cross, Rupert Wyatt, Paul Theroux, Justin Theroux and Edward L. McDonnell. “Those Who Wish Me Dead” – The Poster and Trailer are Here!

The Those Who Wish Me Dead poster and trailer are here.  The poster is nice but, oh man!, that trailer is good.  It should be though, with the director and cast it has.    Those Who Wish Me Dead is now on my must-see list.

From New Line Cinema comes the thriller “Those Who Wish Me Dead,” starring Angelina Jolie and directed by Taylor Sheridan.
Oscar winner Jolie (“Girl, Interrupted,” the “Maleficent” films) stars as Hannah, a smoke jumper still reeling from the loss of three lives she failed to save from a fire when she comes across a traumatized 12-year-old boy with nowhere else to turn.
The film also stars Nicholas Hoult (the “X-Men” films), Finn Little (“Reckoning”), Aiden Gillen (“Game of Thrones,” “Peaky Blinders”), Medina Senghore (“Happy!”), Tyler Perry (“Vice,” “Gone Girl”), Jake Weber (“Midway,” “Homeland”), and Jon Bernthal (“Ford v Ferrari,” “Wind River”).
Oscar nominee Sheridan (“Hell or High Water,” “Wind River”) directed from a screenplay by Michael Koryta and Charles Leavitt and Sheridan, based on the book by Koryta. Steven Zaillian, Garrett Basch, Aaron L. Gilbert, Kevin Turen and Sheridan produced, with Steven Thibault, Ashley Levinson, Andria Spring, Jason Cloth, Richard McConnell, Kathryn Dean, Michael Friedman, Daria Cercek and Celia Khong executive producing.
The director’s behind-the-scenes creative team included his “Wind River” director of photography Ben Richardson, production designer Neil Spisak and costume designer Kari Perkins, and his “Yellowstone” editor Chad Galster and composer Brian Tyler.
New Line Cinema presents a BRON Studios/FILMRIGHTS Production, in Association with Creative Wealth Media, a Film by Taylor Sheridan, “Those Who Wish Me Dead.” It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is set for release in the U.S. in theaters and on HBO Max on May 14, 2021 and will be available on HBO Max for 31 days from release.
“Those Who Wish Me Dead” is rated R for strong violence, and language throughout.

“Without Remorse” – The Final Trailer and Poster are Here!

The final trailer for Without Remorse is here and it is a winner.  I cannot wait to see this!

Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, or simply Without Remorse, is an upcoming American action thriller film starring Michael B. Jordan directed by Stefano Sollima and written by Taylor Sheridan and Will Staples. It is based on the 1993 novel of the same name by Tom Clancy and a spin-off of the Jack Ryan film series.

The film tells the origin story of John Kelly (aka John Clark), a U.S. Navy SEAL, who uncovers an international conspiracy while seeking justice for the murder of his pregnant wife by Russian soldiers. When Kelly joins forces with fellow SEAL Karen Greer and shadowy CIA agent Robert Ritter, the mission unwittingly exposes a covert plot that threatens to engulf the U.S. and Russia in an all-out war.

“Above Suspicion” – The Poster and Trailer are Here!

Here we have the poster and trailer for Above Suspicion, starring Emilia Clarke, Jack Huston and Johnny Knoxville (in a dramatic role!).  While the trailer is pretty generic, I do like the trailer.  I’ll check this out Above Suspicion when it comes to one of my streaming services.

Based on the true story of one of the most notorious crimes in FBI history, this gritty crime-thriller stars Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”) as Susan Smith, a young woman desperate to escape a seedy life of crime and drugs in a Kentucky coal mining town. When a newly minted FBI agent named Mark Putnam (Jack Huston, “Fargo”) recruits Susan as his informant for a high-profile case, she believes her bad luck may finally be changing. But as Susan and Putnam’s relationship deepens, so does the danger, setting them both on a collision course with deadly consequences.
