As regular readers know, I am really looking forward to the premiere of Homefront on November 27th!
Homefront stars Jason [“The Expendables” franchise] Statham, James [“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”] Franco, Winona [“Black Swan”] Ryder, Kate [“Superman Returns”] Bosworth, Frank [“The Grey”] Grillo and Clancy [“Highlander”] Brown in a screenplay written by Sylvester Stallone [based on the novel by Chuck Logan] and directed by Gary [“Things to Do in Denver When You’re Dead”] Fleder.
HOMEFRONT is an action movie about a widowed ex-DEA agent who retires to a small town for the sake of his 10-year-old daughter. The only problem is he picked the wrong town.
I was contacted by the folks at Open Road who are promoting Homefront and asked if I would like to put together a contest for a special prize pack including a Homefront poster signed by the cast along with a copy of the book that inspired the film signed by author, Chuck Logan. Of course I was in.
Here are the details…
best,
Craig

This is Erin Humiston’s first appearance in my Stallone Sketch Gallery.
I met Erin a couple of years ago at a MegaCon Convention. I liked Erin’s animation style and thought it would be cool to see his take on a Sly character.
Erin did a sketch of Sly from Paradise Alley. I actually thought I had shared it earlier, but in checking today see that I didn’t. I’ll fix that and post it in a week or two. In the mean time we have Erin’s take on Sly as Jack Carter.
You can see more of Erin’s art at his website and Facebook page.

Below is an extended interview with Alfred Hitchcock conducted by Tom Snyder. The interview is from 1973 and, unfortunately, Hitchcock died later that year.

Recently The Hollywood Reporter compiled their list of The 20 Scariest Movies of All Time. I’ve seen 15 of the 20 and agree that they’ve come up with a good list.
My choice for number 1 scariest movie would be The Exorcist. My favorite of the 20 listed would be Night of the Living Dead, but there are many other excellent scary movies on the list. Any of you seen all of them?

Fans of the Captain America movie, or better yet, fans of Captain America and Marvel Comics will recognize the soldiers above as The Howling Commandos.
The Howling Commandos appeared [along with Nick Fury] in their own comic book series and come in at number 45 on the 50 Greatest Marvel [Movie] Easter Eggs.

SZoner, Gerardo Moreno is back with his new Escape Plan fan poster.
I’ve always enjoyed Gerardo’s Stallone art, and know that I can see more of his art here.

Here’s the new poster for Grudge Match starring Sly Stallone and Robert Deniro.
If you’d like to see a bigger version, you can here.

This really clever ad below is full of well-designed optical illusions.
If the music sounds familiar, it’s the theme to Get Carter by Roy Budd starring Michael Caine [as well as the theme to the Get Carter remake starring Sylvester Stallone and Michael Cain].

Regular visitors know of my love for drive-in movies. Although most drive-in theaters have gone the way of laser disc players, drive-in movies continue to be made.
Which brings us to American Muscle. That’s the one sheet for American Muscle posted above. There’s no doubt American Muscle falls into the drive-in movie category.
Don’t believe me? Here’s a summary of American Muscle by Travis Stevens (who produced the movie)…
The movie’s about a guy, who’s been in prison for 10 years, gets released, and over the next 24 hours kills every single person who had a hand in him going to jail…
Yep. American Muscle has drive-in movie written all over it. In the old days I’d be looking forward to seeing it as the second or third feature at the local drive-in. Now I just have to wait for American Muscle to arrive at Netflix.

Mike Torrance aka The Krayola Kidd is back and he’s brought his take on Sly from Expendables 2.
You can see more of Mike’s art at his Deviant Art site. Mike is available for commissions and his prices are very reasonable.

Although I’m a fan of the Indiana Jones movies, the Star Wars films really aren’t my cup of Sugar Free Vanilla Iced Coffee. But I did enjoy reading about the Easter Egg Crossovers hidden in each series.

Here’s the trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Looks good, doesn’t it?
