Expendables, Too?
I think that this may be my favorite poster for The Expendables. If you like it, you might want to check out the King-of-the-Box-Office size version over at IMPAwards.
Because The Expendables is doing so well at the box office and continues to track above expectations, talk of a sequel is a quickly moving forward. So it got me thinking…
“Who would I want to see in The Expendables 2?”
Without a doubt I’d like to see roles [even cameos] for…
- Ron Perlman – He may have been born to play Hellboy, but he’s been groomed to be an Expendable
- Danny “Machette” Trejo – he could be great playing either an Expendable or foe
- Chuck Norris – most likely in a cameo a la Arnold’s
- David Morse – an under-rated actor who never disappoints
- Ray Stevenson – yep, the mug from Punisher: War Zone
Those are my top choices… others I considered included: Kurt Russell, William Smith, Clancy Brown, William Forsythe…

The Expendables opened in the number 1 spot at the box office this weekend easily earning more viewers and box office dollars than Eat Pray Love and Scott Pilgrim. Here’s the breakdown according Hollywood.com…
1. “The Expendables,” $35 million.
2. “Eat Pray Love,” $23.7 million.
3. “The Other Guys,” $18 million.
4. “Inception,” $11.4 million.

Andrew Charipar is Expendable
I wasn’t expecting to see Andrew Charipar at this year’s Heroes Con. In fact, he almost didn’t make it due to car problems. Thankfully, he did and worked up a couple of new Stallone sketches for me. This is, of course, Sly as Barney Ross from The Expendables. I’ll post the other sketch in a few weeks. Until then we have Andrew’s blog and his DA site to hold us over.

Big Monster News
Harry Knowles at AICN recently announced that AICN is going to present and run the Famous Monsters of Filmland.com website. This is especially exciting news because Harry has a passion for horror films. He also has a huge fan base that he can attract to the site.
I love horror/monster movies and when I was a kid Famous Monsters of Filmland was always a fun read. But up until Harry’s announcement, I wasn’t even aware that there was a Famous Monsters website.
In other monster news, /Film posted a report that Tim Burton is developing a 3D film called Monsterpocalypse. Tim Burton and the title alone make it worth a look.
Cully Returns to Red
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Warren Ellis & Cully Hamner’s mini-series Red. I was excited to learn that Bruce Willis is staring in the big screen adaptation. I’m even more stoked to hear that Cully has written and drawn a prequel to the series.
The Rock Goes Faster

James Mason Gets Carter
I met James Mason a few years ago at an OrlandoCon. I knew right away I’d want to get a piece from him for my Stallone art collection. James worked up this take on Sly as Jack Carter. Recently James held a contest on his site and I was one of the lucky winners. My prize — James colored the piece you see posted today.

Johnny Depp Heading into Dark Shadows
Three years ago it was announced that Johnny Depp had signed on to play Barnabus Collins in a big screen adaptation of the 60’s cult hit tv show, Dark Shadows. I’m happy to report that things are looking good for a January 2011 filming start with Tim Burton at the helm.
Bruce Willis is Red
It’s hard to believe that I’ve been yapping about Red, the Warren Ellis / Cully Hamner mini-series, for over six years. Perhaps it’s even harder to believe that it’s been turned into a movie starring Bruce WIllis and Morgan Freeman that will premiere on October 16th. Perhaps by then you’ll have seen The Expendables enough times to give Red a try.
