It’s no secret that I think that the 1966 Batmobile is a cool car. In fact, I’ve always said that I’d own one if I could. Now I can… well, if I come up with a spare $149,999.00.

Check out this Walking Dead sizzle reel from the fine folks at AMC and you’ll know why Halloween can’t come fast enough for me… and no, it’s not because of all the free candy. [Although that IS a plus.]

Dave Wachter joins us this week with his take on Sly from The Expendables. I’m a huge fan of Dave’s art and own several pieces [and hope to get more in the future]. He’s a tremendous artist, but more importantly an all-around decent guy. You can see more of Dave’s art at his site. – Craig

This page documents the first time Batman and Hellboy met. Pretty historic art if you’re a comics fan, right? My buddy, John Beatty actually owned that page at one time. I wonder who owns it now. I hope it’s a fan.

Here’s the latest Walking Dead teaser poster via CBR.com. Although I love The Walking Dead, the poster leaves saying, “Eh.”

Remember when I posted that last Friday I was going to be co-hosting as my best bud, John Beatty did headsketches on demand? Well, the event went off without a hitch and we had a blast. We went from about 7:30pm to almost 2:30am the next morning. In addition to John sketching we had give-aways, trivia contests for prizes and a whole lot of fun.
Those are six of the 12 sketches John completed that night. John broadcasts on U-Stream regularly and we’re planning another session with me as co-host in the near future. Hopefully, you can join us next time!

Howard Chaykin has a Batman one-shot coming out this November that he’s writing and drawing. It’s called Batman/Catwoman: Follow the Money. Since I’m a huge Chaykin fan, I’m in. If you want to know more, then check out this interview with Howard Chaykin posted by the fine folks at CBR.com.

In less than 24 hours I’ll be joining my best bud, John Beatty in his luxurious JBI studio in the heart of beautiful downtown Holly Hill. John will be sketching live on U-Stream and taking requests for headsketches like those above. I’ll be there as color commentator and to keep things rolling. John will have something for every price range and you can get the full details at his site.
I hope you’ll tune in to the festivities — it’d be great to hear from all ZONERS. The fun starts at 7pm EST… and if you see John doing a Stallone sketch, it had better be for me!

I really like this new teaser for The Walking Dead comic series. We’ve seen other posters that hint at the plot twists to come, but this pretty much lets the cat out of the bag zombies out from behind the walls. Yeah. I think we’re in for some fun times. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the cast of The Walking Dead.

I’m a sucker for good crime noir. So when I heard about 5 Days to Die by Andy Schmidt [writer] and Chee [artist], I knew I hard to get my order in. 5 Days to Die is the story of…
…Detective Ray Crisara, who suffers a tragic car accident [an attempted hit?] that shatters his family and puts enough shrapnel in his head to give him a five-day life expectancy… And he’s got to choose between being with his family or finding and stopping their potential killer!
If this sounds like something you’d like, then get your order in to your local comic shop. Want to know more about the series? Then check out Noir Meets 24 in 5 Days to Die, posted by the fine folks at Neatorama.com.

It’s hard to believe that I first posted about Rick Remender’s The Last Days of American Crime nearly seven years ago. At that point it was just an idea that RIck had for a cool crime comic. Nearly seven years later came the addition of artist Greg Tocchini and a company interested in publishing it. The rest is, as they say, just the start.
Although The Last Days of Crime is coming to an end, there are still more stories to tell. As Rick Remender told CBR.com:
“Once you read the first trade, you see how those rules work. The API broadcast is a ticking clock that everyone is going to be reacting to in the United States. People who have bad things they need to get out of their systems of revenge trips or whatever they need to take care of, they’re going to be out doing those things and people who are just regular family folk are going to be inside their houses with doors boarded up and a shotgun pointed at the window. In America, there’s 500 million potential stories for what’s happening the two weeks before American Crime is put to a halt. To that end, I’ve got a revenge story that I like quite a bit. I want the next volume to be quite a bit different from this one…”
If you’ve been reading the comic series, my guess is you’ve enjoyed the ride. If you somehow missed it, check with your local comic shop to see if back issues are available or pre-order the trade paperback now!
Oh, and don’t miss the interview with Rick conducted by the fine folks at CBR.com.

Although season one of The Walking Dead doesn’t premiere until Halloween night, AMC has announced that a second season, with a full 13 episodes, will begin shooting in February. You can read more about the renewal at CBR.com and where you can also see a larger version of the comic teaser poster.
