Jonathan Maberry is a NY Times bestselling author, executing a wide-ranging body of work for Marvel, Dark Horse, and more. He is currently doing loads of stuff with IDW, from the frenetically-paced, terrifyingly good ‘V-Wars’, to the angst-loaded, twist-laden ‘Rot & Ruin’. A fan would be breathless following the work of this writer, just as we were when he granted us the following interview, in which he promised lots of rot, ruin, and paranoia, among other things.

Seth Damoose, Jack Carter and John Wick!

I’ve been a Seth Damoose fan since I first saw his art.  There’s a joy to everything Seth draws.  I was extremely happy when Seth announced he was taking a few sketch commissions through the mail.  I jumped on board with a request for Jack Carter and John Wick.  As you can see, Seth came through like a champ.

Marshall Rogers’ Strange Portfolio

The Bristol Board posted all of the plates from the Marshall Rogers’ Strange portfolio and man, did it bring back great memories.  I have Rogers’ Strange portfolio in my collection.  I bought it when the Strange portfolio was originally released way back in 1979.  Plate 4 above (click on the art to see a bigger version) and plate 3 were my favorites.

In the mid to late 70’s through the early 80’s portfolios were a sign of status for artists and collector’s loved them.  Just off the top of my head I can think of the following portfolios that I still have in the vault…

  • Marshall Rogers’ Batman
  • Howard Chaykin’s Robin Hood
  • Howard Chaykin’s Cody Starbuck
  • Mike Zeck’s Punisher
  • Jim Starlin’s Dreadstar
  • Bill Sienkiewicz’s Moonknight
  • Terry Austin – Can’t remember the name of it, but Terry pencilled and had friends in his art

I’m going to have to dig in the vault and see what others that I’m not thinking of.  Those were the days, my friends.

Joe Delagatta’s “The Thing” Poster!

Joe Delagatta recently posted his contribution to The Thing Artbook.  I’ve long been a fan of Joe’s art, but if I hadn’t been already, his Thing piece would have won me over.

After Joe posted his Thing poster, I found myself repeatedly going back to check it out.  So I decided to reach out to Joe and see if he would mind if I posted the art here.  He didn’t, so I did.

Slots sounds like something that I’ll love and my guess is you will to, if you’re reading this.  Truth be told, I was in when I read “drawn by Dan Panosian.”

Stephan Franck Talks “Silver 3” and the Ever-Expanding Silver Universe

Stephan Franck is currently the Head of Story for Lionsgate’s Playmobile. Franck also served as supervising animator on The Iron Giant and key story contributor to Despicable Me, and co-created the award-winning animated series Corbeil & Bernie.  When Franck needs a break from animation, he works on his fantastic graphic novel series, Silver.

Silver is a…

…a high-concept, super fun genre-blender, featuring pulp-era conmen and a troubled female vampire-hunter as they try to steal a mystical treasure from a castle full of vampires — what could go wrong with that plan?!

As I posted here, Franck’s Kickstarter for Silver 3 is now live.  I’m on board.  If Silver sounds like your kind of fun, please consider joining.
