From Wired: Frank Miller is Back (and Not Sorry)

I’ve been a Frank Miller fan since his days on Daredevil over 30 years ago.  I followed Miller as he created Ronin, Dark Night Returns, Electra, Sin City and more.  In recent years Miller’s output has been sporadic at best.

I was hopeful that with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For  hitting cineplexes around the world that we might see more of Frank Miller’s Sin City yarns.

Since reading Sean Howe’s profile of Miller for Wired: After His Public Downfall, Frank Miller is Back (and Not Sorry), and seeing the accompanying photos [not the one above, it is probably five or six years old] of Frank Miller, I am still hopeful for more comic work from him, but even more importantly I hope that Frank Miller is physically okay.

Frank Miller & Robert Rodriguez on Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

I thought that Sin City: A Dame to Kill For  was better than the original Sin City  movie, and I liked the original a lot.  The fact that A Dame to Kill For  isn’t tearing it up at the box office doesn’t surprise, but it sure disappoints me.

My hope is that overseas dollars and dvd purchases make it possible for more Sin City  yarns from Miller and Rodriguez.  Scott Huver at CBR. interviewed Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez and it’s obvious they feel the same,

Torrance, Stallone & Mitchum Say, “Farewell, My Lovely”

Mike Torrance aka The Krayola Kidd is back and he’s brought Sly and Robert Mitchum from Farewell, My Lovely  with him!  Over the coming weeks/months I’ll be posting more of Mike’s sketch card commissions.  My goal is to eventually get a card for every character Sly has played.  We’re well on our way!

You can see more of Mike’s art at his Deviant Art siteMike is available for commissions and his prices are very reasonable.

The Most Engrossing Crime Comics in History

Mark Peters at Salon recently posted his choices for The Most Engrossing Crime Comics in History.  Peters’ choices are solid.  Both the article and recommended comics are worth a read.

Although they didn’t make Peters’ list I would also heartily recommend:

“Longmire” Poster, TV Series & Novels

I really like this poster for Longmire created by Thinkinb4Talkin.

Longmire is one of my favorite shows currently running.  I also think it is the most under-rated and the only one to continue to get better and better with each season.  If you have been watching then you know what I mean.  If you somehow missed this gem, then please give it a go.

If you’re interested, here’s a link to the first four Longmire novels by Craig Johnson.  I haven’t read all of them, but the ones I have read are excellent and they are what got me interested in the tv series.

The Franchize, Stallone & The Lords of Flatbush

Jerry Gaylord aka The Franchize returns with his take on Sly from Lords of Flatbush.  This may be his best Stallone sketch yet, and they’ve all been winners!

I highly recommend Jerry to all sketch collectors. He quickly responds to e-mails, his turnaround time is fast and he packages the art to ensure it arrives safely.
