Planetoid #1 Sells Out (in a Good Way)

About six months ago I suggested  this article at iFanboy about Ken Garing’s comic Planetoid. I thought Planetoid looked and sounded like something readers of this blog would like:

  • PLANETOID #1
  • Written and Drawn by Ken Garing
  • 32pages/ full color
  • Silas, an ex-soldier turned space pirate, finds himself stranded on a mysterious planet in alien territory. As he explores the long-abandoned industrial ruins of the planet’s surface he will have to fend off rogue mechanical creatures, roving cyborg militias, and a hostile alien military with a bounty on his head. With a small survival kit, Richter (a computerized assistant built into his space suit), and one really powerful gun, Silas will have to rely on resourcefulness and bare-bones survival tactics in order to stay alive and ultimately unlock the secrets of a planet where survival is a luxury and escape an impossibility.

It seems that a lot of people felt the same.  Planetoid #1 has sold out and is going back to press.  It’s good to know that we were ahead of THAT curve.

Mike Zeck @ Heroes Con!

My buddy, Mike Zeck stopped going to comic conventions years ago.  So it was a huge surprise when Mike announced that he will be at Heroes Con next weekend as part of their 30th anniversary celebration

Mike will join a panel featuring the guests of the first Heroes Con, and he’ll also be set up signing autographs, selling his sketchbook as well as the crime graphic novel, Damned, that he did with Steven Grant [writer], Denis Rodier [inker] and Kurt Goldzung [colorist].  If you enjoy crime comics, I highly recommend you give Damned a look.  Mike’s sketchbook is also well worth the price of admission.

If you’ve never met Mike Zeck and want to, plan to swing by and see him at Heroes next weekend.  Odds are if you miss him, your next shot will be at Heroes’ 50th anniversary celebration.

Sean Gordon Murphy’s Punk Rock Jesus

Even though I’m a big fan of Sean Gordon Murphy, I was a bit put off by the title of his up-coming five issue mini series, Punk Rock Jesus.  However, the more I read about Punk Rock Jesus, the more I thought I’d like it.  Now, I’m fully on board.

CBR.com has an interview with Sean where he talks about Punk Rock Jesus and a whole lot more.  Perhaps, if you aren’t already, after reading the interview, you’ll be booking passage as well.

Chris Flick Awards Sly…

Chris Flick of Capes and Babes makes his first appearance in my Stallone Theme Sketch Collection. I had the good fortune to sit with Chris, Thomas Zahler of Love and Capes , LittleJohn312 and Patricia at last year’s Heroes Con Drink and Draw event. What a great evening! Ah, but I digress…

Chris Flick worked up this cool sketch of Sly accepting a well-deserved award for his amazing working on Rambo. You can learn more about Chris as well as check out his popular Cape and Babes webcomic.
