Werewolf headshot by Bernie Wrightson. Now THAT is a werewolf!

There is always a joy in art by Mike Wieringo. That is one of the things that made him a perfect artist for Superman.
The Collected Will Eisner’s John Law by Will Eisner and Gary Chaloner is coming! It will drop on March 4, 2025. Preorders are available now. Here is the lowdown…
Wherever men live, be they nomads or city dwellers, there they must have law and a man to enforce it.
Meet Detective John Law of Crossroads City. Strong, decent, hardworking and hard-nosed. He’s a man who believes in the law and order. He’s the last of a dying breed.
In 1948, Will Eisner produced the first issue of “John Law Detective”, which he intended to add to a line of self-published comics. However, after Eisner’s “Baseball Comics”, “Kewpies”, and “Pirate Comics” failed to find an audience, John Law never made it to the newsstand and was quietly dropped, with much of the original artwork reworked in 1950 for his most famous creation, The Spirit.
Featuring original stories by Will Eisner, Gary Chaloner’s award-winning reboot from 2004, including a previously unpublished John Law Story, and a foreword by long-time Eisner publisher Denis Kitchen, this is a must-have for not just Eisner fans but comic collectors of all ages.

This one came out of the Zablo vault. It’s by Jeff Wamester. I discovered Wamester through his website. He was posting cool art like this Wolverine/Hellboy above.
I was lucky to meet and get a sketch from Jeff Wamester at a convention. He rocked Sly Stallone from Nighthawks.
Jeff Wamester went on to become Director at WB animation with experience as a storyboard artist, character designer and comic book illustrator.

Marv from Frank Miller’s Sin City is one of my all-time favorite characters. I love seeing artists do their “take” on the big lug. I originally posted the drawing above was Marv by Ron Garney. While it is by Ron Garney, the character isn’t Marv.
It is actually Ira Rath from the MEN OF WRATH series Garney did with Jason Aaron. I should have known that since I’ve read (and enjoyed) MEN OF WRATH.
Thanks to Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo for the correction!

I never grow tired of Matt Wagner‘s Batman.

I’m old enough to remember the glory days of fanzines. Here’s a beautiful cover for Fantastic Fanzine #10 by the legendary artists, Steranko and Joe Sinnott.

Mine is a Long Lonesome Grave by Justin Jordan and Chris Shehan is a four issue mini-series premiering in February 2025 from Omni Press. Here’s the synopsis…
Harley Creed is a bad man. He used to be worse. A violent ex-con with a string of brutal crimes in his past, he only wanted one thing when he finally walked free from prison: to leave Briar Falls, WV, behind and disappear forever. But Harley’s hometown has a strange way of swallowing people whole — call it a consequence of the low-level folk magic that has permeated its darker corners for generations. And now that Harley has returned, pent-up vengeance for his past crimes is about to come roaring back. Somebody has put a hex on him — and Harley has seven days before he dies in twisted, screaming agony. To reverse it, Harley must find and kill his unseen enemy before their curse can reap its terrible end. But in Briar Falls, there’s no shortage of suspects — and Harley is coming for them all. If can’t have peace, at least he can have revenge.

Issue 1 will have four variant covers and retail at $4.99. Above and below are two uncolored preview pages. You can see all of the variant covers and an additional preview page with more details at Comics Beat’s Oni declares MINE IS A LONG, LONESOME GRAVE by Christopher Chiu-Tabet.

Eduardo Risso is best known for his stunning black and white artwork. Series like 100 Bullets, Moonshine, Lono and many others showcase Risso’s talent. What we don’t often get to see is Risso’s painted art. For a glimpse checkout the Risso Paintings gallery at The Bristol Board.

Marshall Rogers is one of my favorite Batman artists. Look at this sketch and the reason is obvious. If you’d like to see a Holy Batman-sized version, click on the art.

Andrew Robinson has a unique take on Deadman and I’m here for it!
When most folks think of Eduardo Risso they think of 100 Bullets or Batman or many different titles/characters. James Bond / 007 is not usually high on that list. Check out the art above and you might think that should change.
If you’d like to see a size worthy of her majesty’s secret service, then click on the image.

When folks think of Mike Zeck, the Punisher is probably the first character that comes to mind. I have no problem with that.
If you think of Captain America, I wouldn’t fault you. (See above and you’ll agree.)
Same if you first think of…
Shang-Chi…
Batman…
Spider-Man…
Kraven…
Well… I’m sure you get what I’m saying.
