As I was going through the Zablo vault I came across Eli Powell‘s take on Sly Stallone as Jack Carter. I cannot believe I haven’t posted this piece until now. I commissioned this piece at HeroesCon 2017. Powell not only captured the likeness, but added some blood splatter for character. I dug it then and I still do.
Here’s a photo of an original Walter James Brogan painting once owned by Sly Stallone. It features Rocky Balboa surrounded by other famous Rockys: boxers Rocky Graziano and Rocky Marciano, DC Comics hero Sgt. Rock(y), and Rocky the Flying Squirrel.

Here’s a rare one. It’s one of Renato Casaro’s preliminary sketches for a Cliffhanger movie poster. Casaro was an Italian artist famous for his over 2,000 movie posters!

We lost Bill Paxton way too soon. He was great in so many roles, including Severin in Near Dark. J. Beers created this awesome Bill Paxton tribute art.

Marv from Frank Miller’s Sin City is one of my all-time favorite characters. I love seeing artists do their “take” on the big lug. Today we have a Marv by Ibrahim Moustafa.
Yesterday I shared First Blood pieces by Thobias Daneluz. They were personal pieces. Today we get to see art Thobias created for David Morrell’s FIRST BLOOD novel released in Portugal.

Trav Hart created his cool riff of Sly Stallone as Marion Cobretti at HeroesCon 2018. It got placed in the vault without ever being posted until now.

I’m not up to speed on DC’s Absolute heroes and villains, but I sure do dig Andrew Robinson’s riff on Absolute Two Face.
Bernie Wrightson is best known for his horror art (especially Frankenstein) but Wrightson’s Batman (like everything Wrightson drew) is also so good.
