John Wick by Patrick Brown!

The awesome John Wick art above is just a detail from a larger piece created by Patrick Brown who had this to say about the piece…

I’ve always wanted to do a John Wick piece, and Keanu is such a gem, it’s nice to finally finish a picture based on my fave movie franchise. Thanks to all my supporters over at my Patreon, who helped make this happen, I had so much fun with it.

If you’d like to get access to the high-res art, Photoshop docs, tutorials and more you can find it all on my Patreon. Link in bio: www.patreon.com/patrickbrown.  I’m doing a bunch over there and we have a great art community happening.

If you would like to see Patrick’s full John Wick piece plus his step-by-step process, then click here.  I strongly suggest you check out Patrick’s Instagram to see much more of his art!

Cool “Rambo” Art – But Who is the Artist?

I first saw the art above on the Rambo: First Blood to Last Blood Facebook Page. I really like the piece and wanted to see more from the artist. When I asked if anyone knew who created it, the only response I got was from my buddy,  Regan Greenard (aka Raven when he assists me moderating my StalloneZone forum).

Regan thinks it could be Roberto Recchioni, but isn’t sure.  I did a search and could find that Recchioni created alternate posters for each of the Rambo films, but I couldn’t find this drawing.

So… I’m putting out the call.  Do any of you know who created the piece above?  Once I find out, I’ll give proper credit and a link to his/her social media.

Sean Connery Gets an Original Drink and Draw Social Club Tribute!

The Original Drink and Draw Social Club is made up of a group of extremely talented professional artists (Dave Johnson, Dan Panosian, Jeff Johnson and honorary host – Joe Quesada) who get together regularly to livestream as they draw and hangout.  The cool thing is that they a theme.  I’ve embedded their Sean Connery tribute below and here’s a link to their Original Drink and Draw Social Club Page.

Cool “Dreamland” Poster Turns Out to be Made by a Fan!

Last week I shared the poster and trailer for Dreamland.  At that time I said,

The poster shows some imagination and the trailer ain’t bad either.

I just received the following text message:

Hi, I saw you posted about the new Dreamland trailer on your site. The Dreamland poster was actually made by me and it’s just a fan-made poster! It’s not the official one, just thought you should know 😂 – @Nicole

How cool is that?  Regular readers here know how often we complain about the lack of originality of new movie posters.  Then we get one that shows a cool sense of design and breaks from the pack… and it turns out to be made by a fan!  I hope the company putting out the movie gets a look at what Nicole Baroudi has done and perhaps uses (and pays her for) her version!

If you’d like to see more from Nicole, here’s her website.

Thanks Nicole for letting us know.  Hopefully we’ll see more awesome poster designs from you in the future.

Clubber Lang vs Ivan Drago?

Brian Okert at El Tech O posted the drawing above with these questions:

Why do ya think Clubber Lang never stepped up to fight Drago?  And if they did fight… How do ya think that would have gone?

First question first: We don’t know that they never fought.  Perhaps they did but the result never made it into the follow-up Rocky/Creed films.

I like to think that after Lang lost to Rocky, he was devastated.  Lang had been destroying opponents and thought he was unbeatable.  After Rocky knocked him out, Clubber went into a period of isolation and self-reflection. He met a woman who worked with troubled youth.  She didn’t follow sports or know Clubber was a boxer.  They developed a relationship and Clubber began to work with the kids in an effort to help turn their lives around.  Lang had enough money from fighting to retire and he did so he could live a peaceful life with her. (Based somewhat on George Foreman’s life after boxing.)

Second question: If Lang and Drago had fought, how would it have gone?  The outcome would, of course, depend on how Sly wanted to move the story forward.  No matter who won, Clubber or Drago, then it makes sense he would have continued to fight and we would have heard more about him in the Balboa/Creed movies.   Since there was no mention of either fighting again, I think it is safe to assume they never fought.  But if they did fight, I’d give the edge to Drago… although Clubber would have always had a puncher’s chance.

Mike Lynch Gets Carter!

Check out Sly Stallone as Jack Carter by Mike W. Lynch!  This was Mike’s first time drawing Sly and he nailed the likeness.

Mike Lynch had a contest for a free drawing and my buddy, Ron Wendt aka
Darth_Rawn won.  Instead of getting a piece for himself, he asked for the Stallone piece above to gift to me!  Ain’t friends great?

You can see more of Mike’s art using the two links above (Instagram and Twitter).   Thanks to Mike and Ron for a sweet addition to my Stallone art collection.
