Midday Music Day 33.  Operator  by the Jim Croce.

Jim Croce is another talent that left us waaay to early.   This is probably my favorite Jim Croce song, but he had so many great ones, it’s sometimes hard to say for sure.

Midday Music Day 32.  Mr. Bojangles by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

I’ve always loved this song.  There’s a happy – sadness to it.  The line that always gets me is…

“He spoke through tears of 15 years, how his dog and him traveled about.
The dog up and died.  He upped and died.  After 20 years he still grieves.”

This song reminds me of the end of elementary school and the start of junior high, my paper route and of course fun times.

Midday Music Day 31. The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot.

This takes me back to early fall of my senior year.  Homecoming and a friend of my mom loaned me his Mustang [I didn’t have mine yet] for the dance.  It was an interesting evening and for some reason this song brings back that memory.

Midday Music Day 29. Indian Reservation by Paul Revere and the Raiders.

We’ve moved from songs about breaking up to songs about a lover dying to today’s song about the Indian Nation dying… and these are the songs we loved!

Midday Music Day 28.  Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks.

The last few songs have been about breaking up.  Pretty sad stuff, but not as sad as dying.  Yeesh.

Seasons in the Sun.  1974.  9th grade at Holly Hill Junior High.  Good times.

Midday Music Day 27.  Sad Eyes by Robert John.

Breaking up is tough, but it sure makes for great songs.

Midday Music Day 26.  I’m Not in Love by 10cc.

I’m pretty sure he is.

Midday Music Day 25.  We Don’t Talk Anymore by Cliff Richard.

An upbeat song about breaking up.  Teenagers eat this stuff up.  We sure did.

Midday Music Day 24.  Fooled Around and Fell in Love  by Elvin Bishop.

This is a song that will always improve my mood.  It takes me back to the  summer of ’76… drive-in movies, a little money in my pocket, good friends… good times.

Midday Music Day 23.  I Go Crazy  by Paul Davis.

I was lucky enough to see Paul Davis in a couple of concerts at Disney World back in the early 80’s.  Great concerts with wonderful songs by another performer who left us too soon.

Midday Music Day 22. Sail On  by The Commodores.

A classic that I’m always ready to hear.

Midday Music Day 21.  Sara Smile by Hall & Oates.

Ah, back in the 70’s.  Sara Smile by Hall and Oates is one of those songs that I am always ready to listen to because I can close my eyes and it takes me right back to a great time in high school.

Midday Music Day 20.  Holding Back the Years  by Simply Red.

I know a few days ago I promised we’d find our way back to 70’s music, but being stuck in the 80’s these last few days hasn’t been so bad.

Midday Music Day 19.  Sara by Starship.

Knee Deep in the Hoopla was not only a good name for an album [anyone else remember those] but the songs lived up to the name — they were good!
