“LA Noir” is Coming to TNT
LA Noir is an original series from TNT that has a lot of potential. Frank [The Walking Dead; Shawshank Redemption; The Mist] Darabont not only serves as Executive Producer, but also wrote and directed the pilot.
Jon (The Walking Dead) Bernthal headlines as ex-marine/LA cop, Joe Teague in an era of mobsters and corrupt cops. LA Noir is based on John Buntin’s book of the same name. Coming Soon has more info about the series.
Arnold Toughest Member of Lollipop Guild
That’s the first shot of Arnold Schwarzenegger in character for the crime-action-drama, Ten, that’s now in production. According to ComingSoon:
- The film follows an elite DEA task force that deals with the world’s deadliest drug cartels. Specializing in complex mobile operations, the team executes a tactical raid on a cartel safe house. What looks to be a typical raid turns out to be an elaborate theft operation, pre-planned by the DEA squad. After hiding millions in stolen cash, the team believes their secret is safe – until someone begins assassinating them one by one.
Arnold looks to be in fine form and he’s still got that Terminator-stare, but if you ask me, that Lollipop-Guild haircut has got to go.

Sometimes a movie looks/sounds good from the moment you first hear about it. Then as posters and teaser trailers start appearing, it just keeps looking better and better.
Killing Them Softly is one of those films. This international Killing Them Softly trailer is the best yet.
Things are About to Heat Up for Hellboy
It’s been seven years since Mike Mignola wrote and drew an issue of Hellboy. That’s about to change when Hellboy in Hell debuts in December.

Mike Hammer Making a Comeback!
Earlier this week, Deadline.com posted that Warner Bros. had picked up the rights to Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer. Although it hasn’t been decided whether Hammer will be turned loose in a modern day setting or the film will be a period piece, I think that either way we’re in for a potentially fun movie.
The real question is, who to play Mike Hammer? If they’re not going with an unknown, then I’d suggest Karl Urban. I’ll be interested to see who others (especially Chris Mills) would have step into the role. Your thoughts?
Oh, and while we’re making suggestions, might I suggest that Armand Assante’s outing as Mike Hammer in I, the Jury be brought out on dvd?
Bring Back Mike Zeck!
Recently CBR.com posted Six by 6: Six Creators Who Could Make a Big Impact with a Comeback. Number one on the list, was my buddy, Mike Zeck.
I think Mike would have a big impact if he came back to draw any graphic novel or mini-series. (Might I suggest a cold war, Nick Fury tale?) However, if you want something that would have a guaranteed HUGE impact, then get Mike back to do a prestige graphic novel featuring Captain America or The Punisher. Invite John Beatty to ink Mike’s pencils and Marvel could catch lightning in a bottle.
Perhaps if a top name writer created a story that’s a homage to the “Wild Bunch,” Mike would get the itch to come back. I doubt it, but it doesn’t hurt to dream.
By the way, eagle-eyed readers can spot Mike’s in-joke about Sylvester Stallone being my favorite actor.
New “Iron Man 3” Poster
I like the idea of this poster, better than the actual poster.
It’s cool to have Tony Stark surrounded by different versions of his Iron Man armor. I like that Stark is partially suited up and looking over his shoulder. I like that there is no title other than the number 3 and the release date.
Yet, the main figure doesn’t look dynamic enough. Perhaps it would work better if it appeared that Stark was wearing all his armor except for his helmet.
Then again, maybe it’s just me being too picky. At any rate, you can see an Avengers-sized version of this poster over at IMPAwards.
Jenn Lee Gets Carter
Today we have Jenn Lee’s second (but not last) appearance in the Stallone Sketch Gallery. I saw Jenn’s art and that she was taking on headsketch commissions. Jenn thought sketching Sly characters would be fun. Here’s her take on Sly in his role as Jack Carter from Get Carter.

Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher Could Be a Stretch
That’s the latest poster for Jack Reacher starring Tom Cruise. Fans of Lee Child’s novels have been pretty vocal that Cruise is not right for the role of the 6′ 5″ tough guy. I’d have to agree. Still, I’ll judge the movie based on how it plays out rather than Cruise’s height [or lack of].
I don’t really care for this poster. This trailer isn’t much better, although I do enjoy it from the point that Cruise steps out of the moving car right before the police arrive.

Gerardo Moreno is back with but this time it’s not with his Stallone art. This time Gerardo wants to share a piece he did to celebrate 100 years of Universal monsters.

A couple of months ago we took a look at Joe [Narc] Carnahan’s sizzle reel giving his pitch for a proposed Daredevil movie reboot. Today we get a look at one Carnahan’s video pitches from several years ago. It’s for Gemini Man — about an over-the-hill hitman forced to do battle with a younger clone of himself. [Looper, anyone?]
