“Without Remorse” – The Final Trailer and Poster are Here!

The final trailer for Without Remorse is here and it is a winner.  I cannot wait to see this!

Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, or simply Without Remorse, is an upcoming American action thriller film starring Michael B. Jordan directed by Stefano Sollima and written by Taylor Sheridan and Will Staples. It is based on the 1993 novel of the same name by Tom Clancy and a spin-off of the Jack Ryan film series.

The film tells the origin story of John Kelly (aka John Clark), a U.S. Navy SEAL, who uncovers an international conspiracy while seeking justice for the murder of his pregnant wife by Russian soldiers. When Kelly joins forces with fellow SEAL Karen Greer and shadowy CIA agent Robert Ritter, the mission unwittingly exposes a covert plot that threatens to engulf the U.S. and Russia in an all-out war.

Pony Express – Facts You May Not Know!

When I was a kid Cowboys were king. Westerns dominated movie and television screens. Cowboys even regularly appeared in comic books. Kids loved tales of the West. There were so many heroes and we knew their names. Wyatt Earp, Doc Holiday, Bat Masterson, and Wild Bill Hickock just to name a few.

What’s interesting is that there was another group of real-life western heroes — Pony Express Riders. We all knew how they rode the mail across hostile country (weather, terrain and Indians) at breakneck speed, only stopping after they’d ridden dozens of mile and only after they had passed the mail on to the next rider.

Its interesting that what we think we knew about the Pony Express is often wrong.  Evan Andrews addresses this in post 10 Things You May Not Know About the Pony Express.  Before you click over, here are three of my favorites and my thoughts on each…

2. It was a financial flop.  (I really never thought about the financial aspect of running the Pony Express.  There’s the cost and upkeep of the horses.  Paying the riders as well as those that ran the relief stations and the cost of keeping them stocked.  Estimates run as high as $200,000.00 were lost for the investors behind the Pony Express. That translates to about $6.5 million today.  Keep in mind the Pony Express was only in operation for about one and a half years! That is another fact that blows many people’s minds. – Craig)

8. Riders didn’t have the deadliest job on the Pony Express. (I found this to be a surprising fact.  More relief station workers were killed than Pony Express Riders.  The relief stations were in remote locations and vulnerable to attacks by bandits and Indians at war.  – Craig) 7. One rider completed a 380-mile run in less than two days.  (Most Pony Express riders rode about 75 miles making horse changes along the way.  They would they pass off the mail and rest up for their next trip.  Robert “Pony Bob” Haslam had ridden his route but the next rider refused to take the mail on.  Paiute Indians had been attacking relief stations and the rider was afraid to head into their territory.  Haslam grabbed the mail, jumped on a fresh mount and completed the run!  After delivering the mail and a brief rest, Haslam completed the return trip, a total of 380 miles in less than 40 hours! – Craig)

Lead City by Eric Borden and Kyle Brummond on Kickstarter Now! Who’s With Me?

Spring 1873 – Colman Cooper heads West with his wife Pearl and son Isaiah on their way to new beginnings in San Francisco. The hopes and dreams awaiting them at journey’s end are foremost in their minds as the wagon train sets out from Independence, Missouri. But the perils of the trail to California are many and exacts a heavy toll.

Falling behind the wagon train, they decide to take a southerly route to avoid the winter weather. They’re deep in the Nevada territory when this decision proves disastrous as they’re forced to ground by a deadly blizzard.

When the storm breaks, Colman spies a town on the horizon, or is it two towns? Colman knows it’s their only chance and he heads out to get help. The Cooper family is forced to seek refuge in Dugganville where they become stranded at the worst possible time. The town is host to a deadly annual contest that has attracted a collection of thieves and killers from far and wide. Without his good wife’s counsel Colman finds his way into Lead City.

Pitted against seven deadly fighters, Colman must find a way to outlast his adversaries in the anything goes, tooth and nail battle for survival. Who will win the richest prize in the West? A raven-haired pistolera with a penchant for lullabies. A jack Mormon looking for redemption. A Nepali man-of-war with a legendary blade. An Aussie sporting a mean Irish brogue and a chip on his shoulder. A Confederate guerrilla looking for a fortune. A Buffalo Soldier looking for revenge and a Shaolin Monk looking for a challenge. Ten thousand dollars goes to the best.

Before Deadwood, Before Tombstone, Before Durango there was Lead City.

“Above Suspicion” – The Poster and Trailer are Here!

Here we have the poster and trailer for Above Suspicion, starring Emilia Clarke, Jack Huston and Johnny Knoxville (in a dramatic role!).  While the trailer is pretty generic, I do like the trailer.  I’ll check this out Above Suspicion when it comes to one of my streaming services.

Based on the true story of one of the most notorious crimes in FBI history, this gritty crime-thriller stars Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”) as Susan Smith, a young woman desperate to escape a seedy life of crime and drugs in a Kentucky coal mining town. When a newly minted FBI agent named Mark Putnam (Jack Huston, “Fargo”) recruits Susan as his informant for a high-profile case, she believes her bad luck may finally be changing. But as Susan and Putnam’s relationship deepens, so does the danger, setting them both on a collision course with deadly consequences.

The Twilight Zone: “It’s a Good Life” Trivia

The Twilight Zone is one of my all-time favorite shows.  Some of the original TZ episodes rate with the best television has ever had to offer.  One of the most popular Twilight Zone episodes is “It’s a Good Life” which starred Billy Mummy as a little boy who could read minds and would destroy anyone or anything that displeased him.

MeTV posted 9 Little Details You Never Noticed in the Twilight Zone Episode ”It’s a Good Life” I was surprised by some of the facts listed.  Here are three and my thoughts on each before you click over.

It has the longest opening narrative in Twilight Zone history.  (Serling’s intro clocks in at 2 minutes which doesn’t sound like much, but when you consider that is 10% of the episode’s running time, it is quite a bit.  Still I wouldn’t change a word. – Craig)

They made a sequel in 2003. (The sequel appeared on the rebooted Twilight Zone tv series.  Both Billy Mummy and Cloris Leachman, as his mother, returned to reprise their roles.  I had no idea that there was a sequel!  I need to find and watch it. – Craig)

Rod Serling was working on a feature film adaptation when he died. (Sadly, Rod Serling died at such a young age.  I wonder if there is a surviving script?  It would be cool to at least know how he planned to handle the story for a feature length film. – Craig)

“Spiral: From the Book of Saw” – The Poster and Trailer are Here!

I like both the poster and trailer for Spiral: From the Book of Saw.  The trailer is especially good.  I like the cast led by Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson.  I really liked the first Saw movie, but hardly remember those that followed it.  Perhaps Spiral will raise the bar.

A criminal mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw. Working in the shadow of his father, an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.

Spiral stars Chris Rock, Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and Samuel L. Jackson, and is produced by the original Saw team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules. The film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and written by Josh Stolberg & Pete Goldfinger.

A Lionsgate release, Twisted Pictures presents, a Burg/Koules production.

“Shadow and Bone” – Posters and the Trailer are Here!

Shadow and BoneHere are several character posters and below is the trailer.  I’ve never read any of Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse novels, but will give Shadow and Bone a try.  It looks interesting, although not my normal viewing/reading genre.  Who knows, maybe Shadow and Bone will change that.

There are no others like her. And there never will be. Get ready to enter the Grishaverse. Shadow & Bone premieres April 23, only on Netflix.

“Wrath of Man” Directed by Guy Ritchie & Starring Jason Statham – The Poster and Trailer are Here!

The Wrath of Man poster and trailer are here.  I’m disappointed in the poster.  For me, it doesn’t give the feel of the film.  Ah, but the trailer, I do love it.  Guy Ritchie directs a great cast that includes Jason Statham, Holt McCallany (we need to see more roles for this guy!) and Josh Harnett.

Deal me in.

Jason Statham and director Guy Ritchie are back in action. Watch the WRATH OF MAN trailer now and see it in theaters on MAY 7.

A mysterious and wild-eyed new cash truck security guard (Jason Statham) surprises his coworkers during a heist in which he unexpectedly unleashes precision skills. The crew is left wondering who he is and where he came from. Soon, the marksman’s ultimate motive becomes clear as he takes dramatic and irrevocable steps to settle a score.
