Rich Hennemann is a freelance artist. A few years ago I picked up his sketchbook and a sketch and I was hooked. Since then I’ve gotten several sketches from Rich. This Sly as Jack Carter piece is one from my collection. Hopefully there will be more in the future.

This sketch appeared in The Art of John Byrne. It is one of my all-time favorite Byrne sketches.

Marv from Frank Miller’s Sin City is one of my all-time favorite characters. I love seeing artists do their “take” on the big lug. Today we have Marv by Alexandre Tso.

If you follow Eric Canate on X, then you’ve already seen his riff on Superman. Even so, it’s worth another look. But if you don’t follow Eric, you can see what you’re missing.

Tim Shinn is a freelance artist known for his storyboarding, advertising and comic work. Tim’s done art for Hasbro, Disney, Dark Horse and Fun Publications. Tim takes commissions and regularly posts art for sale.
Earlier this week when I saw this sketch of Sly Stallone as Rocky, I didn’t hesitate. It’s my second piece by Tim. You can see more of Tim Shinn’s art on his Instagram page and his Twitter feed.

If you’re a fan of Gahan Wilson’s cartoons, The Bristol Board has a gallery of some of his best.

Marco Finnegan’s Calavera, PI is dropping on September 9th. Let me drop a dime…
In 1925, Juan Calavera died a hero. After a career spent outside the law defending the Chicano barrios where the police refused to operate, he earned a reputation for fearlessness . . . and a gunshot in the stomach. Now, five years later, on Día de los Muertos, his restless spirit has been summoned from the grave to help a desperate former colleague unravel a kidnapping all too close to home. With only days to solve the case before he is called back to the underworld, can Calavera reveal the identity of the masked human trafficker known as La Fantasma before tragedy strikes again . . . and solve the mystery of his own murder in the process?
From the desk of rising star Marco Finnegan (Morning Star, Night People), walk the shadow-shrouded alleys of Hollywoodland to solve the mystery of Calavera—a newly resurrected private investigator whose first case is about to straddle the blood-soaked boundaries between the living and the dead!

Preorders are available now.

I first saw this Samurai warrior illustration by Paul Gulacy in an issue of Steranko’s MediaScene. It was a smaller spot illo that accompanied an interview with Gulacy and Doug Moench. If you’d like to see a Samurai-sized version of the art, you can thanks to The Bristol Board.
