Fatima Camiloza is an artist known for her work in board games and illustration. Back around 2012, I was surfing the net. I saw Camiloza was taking water color commissions. Her prices were very reasonable, so I decided to go for one. Above is her take on Sly Stallone as Jack Carter.
There have been many great artists who’ve drawn the Punisher. I like many of their interpretations. But for me, the Punisher by Mike Zeck and John Beatty always comes to mind first.
The splash page above is from Punisher: Circle of Blood (Vol.1 #2 page 2). If you click over to The Bristol Board, you can see a much larger version of the page, plus a copy of Mike’s original pencils and John’s inks. It is definitely worth a look.
I met Jacen Burrows at the 2003 AtlantaCon. I’d never seen his art before, but he was doing some really cool sketches. I was able to get on his sketch list. As you can see above, Jacen chose to do a young Rambo.
I’ve been a fan Evan Bryce Cranston aka artgantuan’s art for years. Way back in 2008, Evan posted the art above on his blog. I really liked it — little did I know I would someday own it.
The “Predator kills the Marvel Universe” by Gabriele Dell’Otto. ‘Nuff said, indeed.
Kurt Brugel is a freelance artist. When I saw he was taking commissions I jumped on board for his take on Sly Stallone. Brugel scored a knockout!

Marv from Frank Miller’s Sin City is one of my all-time favorite characters. I love seeing artists do their “take” on the big lug. Today we have Marv & Nancy by R.M. Guera.

I first met Pat Broderick at OrlandoCon 1977. Pat was a young artist and I was an even younger fan. I was impressed at how easy-going and friendly Pat was (and that’s not taking into consideration what a talented artist he is). Over the years we became friends. It’s always cool to see Pat at a show. He’s still killing it with new art and comic series!
Back in 2005, at a Tampa Show, I got Pat’s take on Sly Stallone as Deke DaSilva from Nighthawks.
I discovered Joe Bluhm‘s art back in 2007 while surfing the internet. I absolutely loved his style. You can imagine my surprise when I saw that Joe would be a guest at an Orlando Comic convention. What made that even better was that I was already planning to attend the show.
I was able to meet Joe (what a cool guy) and get two sketches from him. The first, Sly Stallone as Rocky Balboa appears above. I’ll post the second Bluhm sketch in the near future. Hope you dig ’em both. I do.
Bret Blevins has worked as a comic artist, animation storyboard artist, and painter. I met Bret at a convention and was lucky enough to get on his commission list. I let him choose the Stallone character he wanted to draw. Bret surprised me by going with Frank Nitti from Capone! What a great choice and wonderful drawing!
I was at MegaCon 2003. I’d never met Rodney Blackwell before. I’d never heard of him. But I liked the art he had on display and decided to get a sketch from him. Rodney’s riff on Jack Carter found a welcome place in my collection.
I’ve known Bill Black for over forty years. Bill began his professional comics career in 1969 illustrating horror stories for Warren Publications’ CREEPY and EERIE magazines. Since then Bill worked in advertising and in film production and illustrated comics for Marvel.
Bill’s real claim to fame came when he started AC Comics, one of the first 5 Independent comic book publishers in America and the only one of that group still in business. Over the years Bill has done it all — writer, penciler, inker, painter, publisher. What an amazing career!
I’ve been fortunate to know Bill as a friend. I say fortunate because Bill is one of the most positive, fun people I’ve ever met. Waaay back in 2006, Bill gifted me his take on Sly Stallone as Stanley from Lords of Flatbush. I love it!
My buddy, John Beatty used to host something he called Sketch Society. Artists would get together at different designated spots (donut shops, book stores, etc.) for drawing sessions. Some artists worked on commissions, others work assignments and some just drew for fun.
John whipped up this quick sketch of Sly as Jack Carter for me at a Sketch Society meeting in September 2006. He drew it without any reference. I love the bold lines and use of negative space.
