I love stuff like this. Above we have,,,
Abraham Lincoln and General George McClellan in the general’s tent at Antietam [3 October, 1862]
While [appropriately] below we have…
A photograph taken by Scott’s British Antarctic Expedition to the South Pole, before they perished on their return journey. [1910]

It’s a pretty safe bet that none of us ever saw Harry Houdini perform his famous Water Torture Cell live.
Now through the er, magic of the internet we can hear a live recording made October 29, 1914 of Harry Houdini offering his famous $1,000 Challenge to anyone who can prove that he could receive air once locked in his Water Torture Cell.
The original recordings are now in the David Copperfield Collection.

How about an epic game of pattycake accompanied by a beautiful song? Trust me on this. It is pure joy.

My internet buddy, Jake Ekiss has started a new free webcomic called Centuries of Dust.
Jake describes Centuries of Dust as a
Space opera about human identity and self discovery set against the largest extinction event in history.
Ok. I’m in.
I hope you are too.

I really like this poster for The Equalizer.

I remember when I first saw Chamber of Horrors. It was on television. I was a kid, like most, who loved monster movies. The title was enough to suck me in.
“Chamber of Horrors.”
Yeaaah.
“A one-handed madman uses various detachable devices as murder weapons to gain revenge on those he believes have wronged him.”
Ok. Deal me in.
The movie began and we learned that the motion picture contained scenes so terrifying that there would be a “Fear Flasher” and a “Horror Horn” to warn the audience to look away.
Yikes.
The opening scene had Patrick O’Neal force a Reverend to marry him to a corpse! Wha — What?!?
Not long after, O’Neal chopped off his own hand to escape the law. He then returned with a detachable hook and other instruments of pain to exact revenge!
Although Chamber of Horrors sounds gruesome, keep in mind it was on regular tv. I loved it.
What kid wouldn’t?
I watched Chamber of Horrors years later and it was still fun… although not nearly as scary as I remembered it. I’ve embedded a taste below.
You know, I’ll bet if Chamber of Horrors was remade it would do good business… and be a lot gorier.
Jerry Gaylord aka The Franchize returns with his take on Sly from Get Carter. Stallone purists may say, wait, he’s got the tats of Barney Ross. Ok, then for you folks, it’s Barney Ross!
Jerry is one of my favorite sketch artists. He always gives collectors more than they’re expecting and he is just plain good!
I highly recommend Jerry to all sketch collectors. He quickly responds to e-mails, his turnaround time is fast and he packages the art to ensure it arrives safely.

Almost everyone knows a bit about Ernest Hemingway. He was a famous writer and one that many consider the greatest writer of all time. Hemingway fought in the war, loved danger and was a “man’s man”. He committed suicide. Pretty much sums Hemingway up, right?
Maybe not.
Listverse presents 10 Incredible Facts About Ernest Hemingway that live up to the title. For example…

Earlier this week AMC released the teaser poster for season five of The Walking Dead which starts next month. If you’d like to see a larger version of the poster you can thanks to Coming Soon.

In honor of the 75th Anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, Parade presents 75 Weird, Wonderful Facts About The Wizard of Oz.

I saw the original Monsters [2010] and was disappointed. Perhaps that’s why Monsters Dark Continent wasn’t on my radar… until I saw the two trailers below.

Buzzfeed presents 33 “Facts” Everybody Knows But That Are Actually Total Lies.
I’ll admit I could have been fooled by 8 of them.

Divisions of Groovy has a feature they call MOKF Monday.
This past Monday, they posted up the entire issue of Master of Kung Fu #80 written by Doug Moench, with art by Mike Zeck and Gene Day. If you don’t have the comic in your collection [or even if you do], the post is worth a look.

I’ve been a Frank Miller fan since his days on Daredevil over 30 years ago. I followed Miller as he created Ronin, Dark Night Returns, Electra, Sin City and more. In recent years Miller’s output has been sporadic at best.
I was hopeful that with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For hitting cineplexes around the world that we might see more of Frank Miller’s Sin City yarns.
Since reading Sean Howe’s profile of Miller for Wired: After His Public Downfall, Frank Miller is Back (and Not Sorry), and seeing the accompanying photos [not the one above, it is probably five or six years old] of Frank Miller, I am still hopeful for more comic work from him, but even more importantly I hope that Frank Miller is physically okay.
