It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Warren Ellis & Cully Hamner’s mini-series Red. I was excited to learn that Bruce Willis is staring in the big screen adaptation. I’m even more stoked to hear that Cully has written and drawn a prequel to the series.

If you’ve been wondering when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would come back to the action genre… then wonder no more. Check out The Rock in Faster. (Doesn’t that sound like Clint Eastwood at the end of the trailer?)

If you’re a fan of Eric Powell’s The Goon (or even if you’re not) you’ll want to check out this trailer of what we can expect when a big screen adaptation hits. And keep in mind that when The Goon hits, he hits HARD.

MTV News scored a cool behind-the-scenes look at AMC TV’s The Walking Dead. Thanks to the good folks at CBR.com, the clip can be seen here.

That’s me and my old (as in 85 years young) buddy, Jim Ivey last week after having one of our extended breakfast meetings. About every six months or so we get together over a hearty breakfast where we catch up on the latest goings on, share old war stories (and some of Jim’s are literally war stories) and generally have a fun couple of hours. It’s always time well spent and I can’t wait to do it again!

I met James Mason a few years ago at an OrlandoCon. I knew right away I’d want to get a piece from him for my Stallone art collection. James worked up this take on Sly as Jack Carter. Recently James held a contest on his site and I was one of the lucky winners. My prize — James colored the piece you see posted today.
Big thanks to James!!

Last week I read a tweet from Victor Gischler (one of my favorite authors) saying that he was going to do a signing at Comic Central in Sanford, Florida. I decided that when I got off work I’d drive over and see if I could get Victor to autograph a couple of my novels. I’m really glad that I did.
Victor Gischler is a talented writer and an all-around great guy. Not only did he autograph the four novels that I took over (Gun Monkeys; Pistol Poets; Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse and The Deputy — all highly recommended!), but he also posed for photos (I should have had my wife take a second shot since I appear to be sleep-standing), and spoke at length with each fan that came in. It was very clear that Victor appreciated each person who came in to meet him.
It’s always nice when someone you admire for a skill (writing, drawing, etc.) turns out to be as nice as they are talented.

Three years ago it was announced that Johnny Depp had signed on to play Barnabus Collins in a big screen adaptation of the 60’s cult hit tv show, Dark Shadows. I’m happy to report that things are looking good for a January 2011 filming start with Tim Burton at the helm.

Newsarama has a nice interview with Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman, who talks about plans for the comic and what to expect from the AMC tv series adaptation.

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been yapping about Red, the Warren Ellis / Cully Hamner mini-series, for over six years. Perhaps it’s even harder to believe that it’s been turned into a movie starring Bruce WIllis and Morgan Freeman that will premiere on October 16th. Perhaps by then you’ll have seen The Expendables enough times to give Red a try.

Chris DiBari provides this week’s Stallone piece. It’s Chris’ take on Sly as Deke DaSilva in Nighthawks. (Excellent choice and an excellent job!) I met Chris, who is also a big Stallone fan, at Heroes Con this year. This was my first piece by Chris, but hopefully won’t be my last.

Sly takes us behind the scenes on The Expendables in the first of five weekly videos. Check back weekly to see more behind the scenes action!

Ask and ye shall receive: Michelle Rodriguez in her character poster for Machete thanks to the good folks at IMPAwards.com. You can also see larger versions of the character posters for Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Robert DeNiro and more at the IMPAwards site.
