UFC 113 Predictions

UFC 113 is tonight on pay-per-view, so that means it is time for my predictions. Here we go…
Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis vs. Jonathan “The Road Warrior” Goulet
Both fighters come in with similar records. Goulet hasn’t fought in a year so that may be enough of an edge for Davis.
- Prediction: The Irish Hand Grenade explodes with a win over The Road Warrior.
Tom “El Dirte” Lawlor vs. Joe “Filthy” Doerksen
I don’t know too much about either of these guys. So I’m going with a scientific choice. Filthy is worse than dirty.
- Prediction: Joe Filthy Doerksen for the win.
Patrick “The Predator” Cote vs. Alan “The Talent” Belcher
Both fighters come in with 14-5 records. Belcher has been more active and is bigger [6’2″ to 5’11”]. I’m a Cote fan though.
- Prediction: The Predator takes the victory.
Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione
Odds makers are saying this is a virtual coin toss. Most folks predict that both fighters will stand and thump. Some think that this gives Kimbo the edge, I’m not so sure. Kimbo was KO’d by little known Seth Petruzelli and I think that Mitrione hits harder. If the fight goes to the ground, I think that Mitrione still has the advantage.
- Prediction: Mitrione will win and it won’t go the distance.
Sam “Hands of Stone” Stout vs. Jeremy “Lil Heathen” Stephens
Stout has won Fight of the Night in four of his five UFC bouts. He not only has “Hands of Stone” but a chine of granite. This should be a tough match. Stephens has the slightly better record [17-5 to 16-6] with everything else being equal.
- Prediction: Stout wins a hard-fought victory.
Josh “Kos” Koscheck vs. Paul “Semtex” Daley
Koscheck is the better wrestler. Daley is the better banger. Basically it comes down to who will impose his will and dictate the fight.
- Prediction: Koscheck will earn a decision victory.
Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua
The rematch for the title. Both guys are tough and talented. Machida is undefeated and the champ. He won the first time they fought and that should give him a slight edge in this match up.
- Prediction: Machida retains the title via decision.

This whole card is a toss up in my opinion. If I was gambler none of the fights are enticing. As a fan there are several nice fights here. I think Shogun won the first fight and I think he may take this.
Ryan, you’re right. Most if not all of these fights are close… at least on paper. You could be right about Shogun. Many thought he did win the first time. My guess is that neither will want to leave it to the judges this time.
