Way back in 2007, we first learned about a project called Iron Sky. The idea was that right before the end of World War II, Nazis secretly escaped to the dark side of the moon where they started a new society. The tale set in 2018 told the story of their return to conquer the Earth.
Now that Iron Sky has been completed, the first four minutes are available for viewing.
This week we have Sly from Expendables 2 by Tom Hodges. I discovered Tom’s art through his DA site. I saw that Tom was going to be drawing live on UStream so I commissioned several sketches. Tom still draws regularly on UStream and it’s always a blast watching him sketch and interacting with the crowd.
The photo above is just one of 25 rarely seen photos of Marilyn Monroe that Julien’s Auction House is selling. The photos come from the private collection of Ms. Monroe’s long time makeup artist and personal confidant, Allan “Whitey” Snyder.
It’s hard to believe if Marilyn Monroe was still alive she’d be almost 86 years old. Instead of growing old, Marilyn Monroe will remain an ageless icon. Whitey Snyder captured that beauty in those rare pictures [a couple of which were taken on location when Ms. Monroe was filming River of No Return with Robert Mitchum].
Just received word from Sly today… and I quote
That’s right. Sly says that Expendables II will be rated R.
That’s Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in a new photo from GI Joe: Retaliation. I imagine GI Joe: Retaliation will do good business with The Rock and Bruce Willis leading the team. As for me, I can’t wait for The Rock in Ciudad.
It’s been a week since we talked about Riddick, so how about a pic from the set?
Since we were talking about Sin City yesterday. I thought you might like to see some character designs for a Sin City game that never got past the development stage. [And don’t some of those design drawings look like something that John Beatty drew? He didn’t.]
That’s a detail from a new banner for Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows. I hope that Burton’s Dark Shadows isn’t too campy.
One of my favorite comic characters [Marv] will return to the big screen this summer! Robert Rodriguez announced filming of Sin City 2 this summer!
Have you seen the rare home movie footage of The Three Stooges filmed in 1938 at Steel Pier in Atlantic City that was edited to make it appear as one of their shorts? If you have it’s worth viewing again, and if you haven’t why not take a look?
A tip ‘o the derby, and a nyuck-nyuck-nyuck to Mark Evanier for the original link.
Wow! Francesco Francavilla scored a first round KO with his variant cover for The Shadow #1. To see more of Francesco’s fantastic art, head on over to his site!
Lance Sawyer makes a return appearance at the StalloneZone, this time with his take on Sly as Rocky. I saw Lance was taking on some sketch and sketch card commissions, so I jumped on board.
If you’d like your own commission or to see more of Lance’s art, you can right here.
