I had been a fan of Thomas Boatwright’s art for a while. When he announced a sale on commissions for the month of December, I wrote to ask him about a Stallone piece for my collection. Thomas quickly responded and said that he was a fan of “First Blood.” I was surprised at how quickly Thomas finished the piece and that he’d decided to put Richard Crenna’s character in as well. I totally dug everything about it.
So… I asked Thomas if he was up for some more Stallone. He said that he was, so you’ll be seeing his take on Sly from The Expendables and Get Carter on the SZ in the next few weeks. They are just as cool! If you want to see them sooner, Thomas has posted them on his blog and his DA site. Send him some love.
I hope to get more Stallone art from Thomas in the future. If you get commissions, you should consider him as well. He keeps you totally in the loop on his progress, finishes his commissions on or ahead of schedule, has very reasonable prices and is a fantastic artist! – Craig

Last night Georges St. Pierre closed Josh Koscheck’s eye and the year with a win at UFC 124. Let’s take a look at the earlier fight results and then come back to the main event:
Final Thoughts…

UFC 124 is tonight. Although the main event between Josh Koscheck and Georges St. Pierre is highly anticipated, the undercard doesn’t really grab me. Still there are a few fights that have interested me [and hopefully you] enough that I’ll share my predictions:
As always I’ll post results tomorrow.

If you were a fan of “24” then you might want to jump on this great deal from Amazon. 24: The Complete Series (eight seasons, the 24 tv-movie: “Redemption” and a bonus disc of supplemental materials) is currently on sale at 49% off the suggested price of $349.98. That’s right, you can snap it up for $179.99 and get is shipped to you for free and in time for Christmas!
The dvd set comes available Tuesday and Kiefer Sutherland talks a bit about it and the series here. “24” is one of the few series that I watched from the premiere until the end without ever missing a single episode… and if the series had continued, I’d have kept on watching.

Now that the first season of The Walking Dead has concluded [with the highest ratings of any drama on cable], Robert Kirkman sat down for an interview with the fine folks at CBR.com. You can read part one here and then come back tomorrow for part two.

I was like most kids in that for a period of time I was really into magic. And like most kids who got into magic, I thought that Harry Houdini was the coolest magician to ever take the stage. And like most kids I outgrew my obsession with magic. Teller [of Penn & ] never did age out of his love of magic or Harry Houdini. He explains here why Houdini matters.
Well, said Teller. Well said.

Eric Powell, the writer/artist/creator of The Goon, has an eight page Goon story running in the pages of the USAToday. You can read it here… well part one is up today and you’ll have to go back tomorrow for part two.

That’s Hugh Freeman’s quick sketch of Sly as Jack Carter. I discovered Hugh’s art at his Deviant Art site, but you can also see more of Hugh’s art at his website. Nice work, huh?

Last night SPIKE TV aired UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter season finale. Let’s check out my predictions and the results:
Kendall Grove vs. Demian Maia.
Prediction: Maia via decision.
Result: Maia won via unanimous decision.
Jonathan Brookins vs. Michael Johnson for the title of The Season’s Ultimate Fighter.
Prediction: Bookins via submission stoppage.
Result: Bookins won via unanimous decision.
Stephan Bonnar vs. Igor Pokrajac
Prediction: Bonnar via decision.
Result: Bonnar won vian unanimous decision.
Although there were only 3 fights I predicted, I went 3 and 0. It’s not often I get 100% of the fights right… guess I should have bet a buck or two. ; )

Tonight at 9pm EST, SPIKE TV will air free UFC fights. There are three that interest me and here are my predictions:

Stephan Bonnar vs. Igor Pokrajac

E!OnLine has a great little interview with Kurt Sutter, the man who created Sons of Anarchy. Sutter talks about the past season, the things fans hated, loved and where the show goes from here. It’s definitely worth a read.

IMPAwards.com scored a look at two posters for Jason Statham’s remake of the Charles Bronson classic, The Mechanic. You can see a larger version of my favorite of the two, the one posted above, here… as well as the second one here.

I like this poster a lot. It makes me want to learn more about the movie and since I don’t know much about “I am Number Four” I’m going to have to do just that. I hope what I learn leads me to believe that the movie is going to be as good as the poster. [Via IMPAwards.com]

I’m a huge fan of Eduardo Risso’s art. I’d buy nearly any comic that he draws. When I learned that Risso would be pencilling and inking Jonah Hex #62, I was down for a preorder faster than Hex could draw-down on a man. If you need to know a bit more about the issue, here’s what the tease says…
And thanks to the nice folks at Newsarama and DC Comics, here’s a free five page preview.
