The Dark Knight a la Hitchcock

Have you seen this mashup?
It’s the opening music from Alfred Hitchcock’s “Vertigo” combined with the opening bank robbery sequence from Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight”. Bernard Herrmann’s score perfectly matches Nolan’s shots.
How crazy-cool is that?
Don’t Ever Cross Alex Cross

Tyler Perry as Alex Cross? Yeah, that could work, although I have to admit it was a bit of surprise to see Madea taking on the role of James Patterson’s detective.
I liked the poster a lot better at first glance, but the more I look at it the more the layout bugs me. All of the white space to the left and the fact that Matthew Fox and Tyler Perry are in the same pose just makes the poster fall a bit flat. I also think that they could have come up with a better tag line than: Don’t Ever Cross Alex Cross. The trailer is interesting though.
Heroes Con or Bust!

If all went well, Doralya, Mike, Erin and I should arrive at Heroes Con in Charlotte, just before it opens this morning. I’m really looking forward to the show. It’s always a blast, with something for everyone. Look at the guest list and schedule of events and you can see I’m not kidding.
It’s been a few years since Mike has attended the show, so he and I will hang out at the con while our ladies play tourists around Charlotte. Then we’ll all come together for the Drink & Draw Session at Fuel on Friday and the annual Heroes Con Art Auction on Saturday. The rest of the time will be spent roaming the convention floor looking for fun.
Hope to see you there, but if you can’t make the show, don’t worry, I’ll post a full report later in the week.
[And Chris, if you’re reading this, remember: No parties! Be sure to feed Bruiser and Jack!]
Pulp Fiction Paper Doll Art

About a year ago, I did a post about Kyle Hilton‘s cool Breaking Bad paper dolls art. As I said then, I’m not a fan of paper dolls, but when they’re as cool as the one that Kyle did for Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction, they deserve to be mentioned.
Winslow & Stone Give Us Savages

If Oliver Stone’s adaptation of Don Winslow’s Savages is even almost as good as the novel, we’re going to get a great movie.
I think we’re going to get a great movie.
Breaking Bad: “We’re Done, When I Say We’re Done”

Breaking Bad is one of the best shows on television. This 15 second teaser sure hints at the tone of the new season. July 15th can’t get here fast enough.
Resident Evil: Retribution

If my life depended upon the right answer, I might be able to guess how many Resident Evil movies have been made. Of course it would be a guess. And I’d only do it to save my life.
The Resident Evil movies (however many there may be) are not great films by any stretch of the imagination. I will confess, however, that I think I’ve seen them all. At least the ones that have made their way to the SYFY channel.
I watch them, enjoy them at the time of viewing and then pretty much forget the details. That’s because, at least as best as I can remember, they’re all pretty much about Milla Jovovich fighting zombies and other creatures created by the evil Umbrella Corporation. Which is a fun way to spend a late night on the weekend when there’s nothing else on.
Guess what? There’s a new Resident Evil movie coming out. It’s called Resident Evil: Retribution and here’s the trailer. I wish I could tell you where this new movie fits in to the Resident Evil timeline, but it’d only be a guess.
Jesse Munoz Gets Carter

Jesse Munoz makes his first appearance in my Stallone Theme Sketch Collection. Big thanks to Jesse for his excellent take on Sly as Jack Carter and for the quick response time. You can see more of Jesse’s art.
Sinister: Have You Seen Him?

The new trailer for Sinister has a couple of creepy moments, the best being at the at the 1:33 mark.
Final “Expendables 2” Poster

Here is the final Expendables 2 poster in all it’s glory.
Mike Zeck @ Heroes Con!

My buddy, Mike Zeck stopped going to comic conventions years ago. So it was a huge surprise when Mike announced that he will be at Heroes Con next weekend as part of their 30th anniversary celebration.
Mike will join a panel featuring the guests of the first Heroes Con, and he’ll also be set up signing autographs, selling his sketchbook as well as the crime graphic novel, Damned, that he did with Steven Grant [writer], Denis Rodier [inker] and Kurt Goldzung [colorist]. If you enjoy crime comics, I highly recommend you give Damned a look. Mike’s sketchbook is also well worth the price of admission.
If you’ve never met Mike Zeck and want to, plan to swing by and see him at Heroes next weekend. Odds are if you miss him, your next shot will be at Heroes’ 50th anniversary celebration.
10 Bests You Will Always Win

Here’s a fun video featuring 10 Bests You Will Always Win… unless, of course, you’re betting against someone who reads my blog or Neatorama.com.
Car of Choice for the Zombie Apocalypse

I’ve been a Hyundai fan for over twenty years. I currently drive a XG350, which is affectionately called the Jack Carter mobile by some of my friends. Both of my sons drive Hyundais which have been passed down to them.
Hyundais are great cars which get wonderful gas mileage and seldom need repairs. Little did I know that Hyundai would be the car company of choice should there be a zombie apocalypse!
Sean Gordon Murphy’s Punk Rock Jesus

Even though I’m a big fan of Sean Gordon Murphy, I was a bit put off by the title of his up-coming five issue mini series, Punk Rock Jesus. However, the more I read about Punk Rock Jesus, the more I thought I’d like it. Now, I’m fully on board.
CBR.com has an interview with Sean where he talks about Punk Rock Jesus and a whole lot more. Perhaps, if you aren’t already, after reading the interview, you’ll be booking passage as well.
